Good to be Near God

Scripture

Psalm 73:28 (NIV)

But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.

Reflection

In Psalm 73, the psalmist grapples with feelings of envy and frustration when he sees the apparent prosperity of the wicked. However, his perspective shifts when he enters the sanctuary of God and gains a deeper understanding of the eternal blessings found in God's presence. Reflect on the profound truth that it is good to be near God. Consider the peace, joy and fulfillment that come from drawing close to Him and aligning your heart with His will.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the invitation to draw near to you. In your presence, we find refuge and strength. Help us to cultivate a deeper intimacy with you, knowing that it is truly good to be near you. Grant us the wisdom to prioritize our relationship with you above all else, finding satisfaction and contentment in your love and presence. Amen.

Action Steps

  1. Make Time for God: Set aside intentional time each day to seek God through worship, prayer and Scripture reading. Prioritize this time as sacred, recognizing its significance in nurturing your relationship with Him.

  2. Serve Others: Look for opportunities to serve and minister to those in need, reflecting God's love and compassion to others. Serving others not only draws us closer to God but also allows us to experience the joy of fulfilling His purposes.

  3. Seek His Presence Continually: Make it a daily habit to seek God's presence in every aspect of your life. Whether you're at work, home, or in the community, strive to remain aware of God's nearness and guidance, trusting in His provision and direction.
